March 4, 2021, is World Obesity Day! The FDHA supports worldwide efforts to raise awareness about obesity and the other diseases it affects. The World Health Organization reported that in 2016, over 650 million people worldwide were obese. The risk of getting heart disease, strokes, diabetes, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer is higher if obese or overweight. Obesity is a preventable disease caused by extreme body fat buildup that can damage your health. Ways to prevent obesity include making healthier food choices and getting regular physical activity. The recommended amount of physical activity for children is 60 minutes a day. The recommended amount of physical activity recommended for adults is 150 minutes spread throughout the week.
