Accessibility Policy

The purpose of this Accessibility Policy is to affirm The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority’s (FDHA) commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all individuals, including those with disabilities, in compliance with applicable laws and digital accessibility standards.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all FDHA-managed digital properties, including websites, web applications, documents, and communications intended for the public or internal audiences. It also applies to all vendors, contractors, and partners involved in creating or managing digital content or platforms on behalf of FDHA.

3. Commitment to Accessibility

FDHA is committed to ensuring equal access to information and services for all users. We strive to meet the accessibility standards defined by:

4. Responsibilities

– The Web and Digital Communications Team is responsible for implementing accessibility best practices across all digital content and platforms.
– The Compliance and Legal Teams are responsible for monitoring compliance with applicable laws.
– All content creators, developers, and designers are expected to incorporate accessibility practices into their work.
– Third-party vendors must comply with FDHA’s accessibility requirements and are contractually obligated to follow WCAG 2.1 AA standards or higher.

FDHA websites include the following accessibility considerations:

– Semantic HTML structure and ARIA landmarks
– Keyboard navigation support
– Alt text for images and media alternatives
– Contrast ratios that meet WCAG requirements
– Responsive design for mobile and assistive technologies
– Captions and transcripts for multimedia content
– Accessible forms and documents

An accessibility checker is used regularly to scan for and remediate issues.

6. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process. FDHA will:

– Regularly audit websites and digital platforms for compliance
– Provide training for staff involved in web development and content creation
