The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority encourages you to take charge of your health by making better lifestyle choices. Men tend to pay less attention to their health than women. Compared to women, men are more likely to drink alcohol and use tobacco and less likely to see a doctor for regular checkups. Many of the major health risks that men face can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle such as: get moving with regular exercise, a healthy diet, not smoking, manage stress, and keeping alcohol within a moderate range (no more than 2 drinks per day), if at all. Stop avoiding doctor visits! Do not wait to visit the doctor until something is seriously wrong. If you have health issues, be sure to follow your doctor’s treatment recommendations. Encourage the men in your life to go to the doctor. Do research in advance, know why you are going to the doctor, and write down any questions you have in advance.
