November is American Diabetes Month. This year’s campaign focus is on prediabetes and preventing diabetes. Prediabetes is a serious condition where your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. According to the CDC, 88 million adults have prediabetes, most individuals do not know that they have it. There are small steps that you can take to make lifestyle changes as it is possible to prevent type 2 diabetes. These changes include exercise, choosing healthier foods and drinks, losing weight (track it and keep it off), seeking support from your doctor, staying up to date on vaccinations (COVID-19 booster, flu vaccines, etc.).
