December 1st is World AIDS Day. The FDHA joins in on the call for an increased response to move towards Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that there was an estimated 1.2 million people in the US that had HIV at the end of 2018. The ways to prevent HIV/AIDS include not having sex (abstinence), never share needles, and use condoms the correct way every time you have sex. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) are HIV prevention medicines that are available. The FDHA is proud to partner with AID Atlanta, Empowerment Resource Center (ERC), Center for Pan Asian Community Services, and Jerusalem House to provide HIV/AIDS resources and services.
