STOP THE VIOLENCE

The Fulton DeKalb Hospital Authority (FDHA), the proud owner of Grady Health Systems (GHS) is sponsoring its 9th Annual FDHA Health Summit on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM on Zoom and on Facebook Live.

The summit’s theme is “Stop the Violence.” The purpose of the Health Summit is to build a healthy community by sharing resources and solutions.

Opening Session
9:05 am – 9:45 am

What is Violence? What are the short-term and long-term effects of Violence? An overview of violence and discusses the short-term and long-term exposure to violence

Session I
9:45 am – 10:30 am

Intimate Partner Violence Physical, sexual, and emotional violence in the home between two adults, usually partners, is considered domestic violence.

Session II
10:30 am – 11:15 am

Elder Violence/Abuse Elder abuse is an intentional act, or failure to act, by a caregiver or another person in a relationship involving an expectation of trust that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult.

Session III
11:15 am – 12:00 pm

Community violence can be defined as being directly or indirectly exposed to acts of interpersonal violence committed by individuals who are not intimately related to the victim. Some of the acts that fall under the community violence umbrella include sexual assault, burglary, muggings, the sounds of gunshots, as well as social disorder such as the presence of teen gangs, drugs, and racial divisions.

Closing Session

Human Trafficking occurs when a trafficker exploits an individual with force, fraud, or coercion to make them perform commercial sex or work.
