Black Men’s Health Barbershop Initiative

Due to COVID-19 pandemic the Black Men’s Health Barbershop Initiative (BMHBI) has been temporarily altered to support social distancing. The goal of the Virtual Barbershop Initiative is to provide health education by engaging and empowering black men of all ages. We are uniquely equipped to educate both the male public at-large and barbers who will support this community effort to save lives.

During a time when we are experiencing profound isolation, our creative health initiative continues to foster The FDHA’s community engagement and outreach while promoting wellness. We are encouraging men to take the steps necessary to make wellness a lifestyle. The FDHA is offering free online health events that are life-saving education opportunities. Presenters will deliver monthly zoom webinars, within a familiar barbershop context, that will include the following:

  • Information on community resources
  • A blood pressure screening demonstration
  • A discussion on how to interpret the current blood pressure chart
